We picked three destinations to visit: Split, Hvar, and Dubrovnik. All three were spectacular in their own right. In Split, the palatial ruins of Diocletian were quite the sight, as a city appeared to grow right out of these ruins. On the gorgeous island of Hvar, we couldn't get over how clear the water was, or the Incredible restaurants set within medieval alleys. A day cruise to the islands of Vis & Bisevo revealed amazing caves and secluded beaches. Our final destination - Dubrovnik, The Pearl of The Adriatic, lived up to its reputation. Immense city walls surrounded an old city filled with beautifully preserved architecture and historic sites. Oh, and also a cliff side bar just outside the city walls...not bad. We took a full day trip to Montenegro, and toured the Bay of Kotor, a fjord carved into enormous mountains. Our final day in Croatia was also our 4 year anniversary, and what better way to spend it than in one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
Trips like these reinforce our desire to keep traveling and experiencing other cultures. Life is too short not to! Croatia was unbeatable in terms of its mixture of historic sightseeing, beaches, activities, and dining. Of course, as soon as we returned, the question was raised immediately: "where should we go next?"
