Welcome Home | Marine Corps Homecoming

We've all seen the homecoming videos on youtube and the news. The soldiers returning from a war zone to their loved ones. To see that moment in person is a different story. Last weekend, my wife and I traveled up to Camp LeJeune, NC to see her brother return from his 2nd tour in Afghanistan. Along with her Mother, Aunt, & Brother, we were the welcoming party for Nic. A huge crowd gathered before dawn to see the Marines arrive back home. As the buses pulled up, the crowd began to go nuts. I've shot many weddings where family members were thrilled to see the bride & groom get married. Nothing compares to the thrill I witnessed when loved ones saw their Marines step off that bus. Fathers, husbands, sons, brothers, all embraced by their families.

Thank you Cpl. Nicolas Allen for your service. Semper Fi.

Quarry

A quarry in Birmingham, Alabama. It is still active, although it holds remnants of a once booming industry in the city. There are many places like this around Birmingham, mostly rotting away and neglected by the city. For these I decided to go with square shots with high contrast black & white processing to add to the stark nature of the steel, rock, and concrete.

2010 - A Year In Review

Here's a look at what I think are my favorite images from 2010. What an amazing year it has been. Published in three magazines (1 cover), Viewers Choice Finalist in a National Geographic Contest, exhibited in an art gallery, a handful of weddings, numerous new clients, and a never ending passion to become a better photographer. Thank you to all that have made 2010 an incredible year for me! Here's to 2011 being even better!
